COIs: What’s New, What Matters, What Works
I was asked to present a comprehensive overview of conflicts of interest at the recent ECOA annual E&C conference.
Here are the slides prepared for that presentation: ECOA 2012 Annual Conference slides.
Among other things, the slides cover:
– The COI “case of the year” – and several runner ups.
– Recent social science research relevant to COIs.
– How “moral hazard” relates to COIs.
– The various elements of an effective COI compliance regime – including risk assessments; certifications and policies; review procedures; monitoring; training (of boards, senior managers and others); other communications; auditing; and self assessing.
(Due to a family emergency I wasn’t able to deliver this presentation at ECOA – and so wanted to share the slides through alternative means, such as this.)
